Data teams have been dreaming of self-service for years, and this year we might finally have reached it. 2026 has been the most transformative year yet for the way data work: we no longer write SQL, edit dbt models, or build dashboards. Every answer now starts with an agent.

In this keynote, we will travel through time, from the dawn of the data age to the future of analytics. I will showcase what people are doing today and try to guess where we are heading tomorrow, through experiments at the frontier of our data practices.

So many questions remain unanswered, and we will try to tackle them in the short time we have:

• Do we still need dashboards?
• Do we still need data people?
• Is a semantic layer required?
• How are data jobs evolving?
• What can't Claude do?
